  • When Ronaldinho burst onto the scene, dazzling everyone with his skills and tricks, one move stood out from the rest – the elastico.

At the time, it seemed like an impossible skill, unless the ball was tied to your shoe on a string – which is what it often looked like when the Brazilian plays. The ability to flick the ball in one direction and then instantly drag it in another was a Ronaldinho special.

In case you want to see if you can pull it off, watch this FFDTV video for a quick tutorial.

Of course, no skill ever remains the sole province of one player for too long, and now, there are many talented youngsters who have the elastico in an armory full of tantalizing skills.

Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham, currently on loan at Bristol City, has quickly gained a reputation as a trickster, and the elastico is just one of many tricks in his repertoire.

Highly-rated Manchester City forward Jadon Sancho has a stunning variation on the elastico, pulling it off while his foot isn’t even on the ground. See for yourself:

Can you pull off an elastico?
