  • Reaction from Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his Los Angeles Galaxy side suffered a 5-3 defeat to local rivals Los Angeles FC in the MLS (Major League Soccer) Cup Conference semi-finals on Thursday.

A first-half Carlos Vela brace saw LA open up an strong advantage, but Cristian Pavon pulled one back in the 41st minute as the Galaxy went into half-time 2-1 down.

Ibrahimovic – likely making his last MLS appearance – got the Galaxy back on level terms after making the most of poor defending, with a Tyler Miller mistake in goal seeing the Swede’s shot squeak in.

But Diego Rossi and Adama Diomande struck within three minutes of each other to put LAFC up 4-2, with Diomande’s second of the night in the 80th minute sealing his side’s first LA derby victory.

And Zlatan was less than impressed.

“The whole season has been like this. We score two, we concede four. We score three, we concede four. We score one, we concede three. And it is difficult to play like that,” he said.

“But, still, I did my best. I think everybody did their best. And what happens next year, I do not know. I mean, if I stay or not, I think for MLS it is good, because the whole world will watch it. If I do not stay, nobody will remember what MLS is.”
