  • Lewis Hamilton staged a thrilling fightback to catch and pass Max Verstappen for victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix with three laps to go on Sunday.

And despite being passed by Hamilton with three laps to go, the Dutchman had no regrets after admitting he gave it his all.

“Yeah, I gave it all, but he was clearly a bit faster than us, and I was struggling for grip always after a few laps on a new set,” said the Red Bull man.

“It was just not our day I think in terms of pace compared to Lewis (Hamilton). But I think compared to the others we were still way faster. And I think overall it was a good weekend.

“Also looking back, to get that pole position I think it was great for us, but of course when you start on pole you want to win as well, but you also have to be realistic. Today we didn’t have Mercedes’ pace and to be second with the fastest lap is the maximum that we could do.”
