  • Lewis Hamilton claims Ferrari are in a “class of their own” after Charles Leclerc secured a hat-trick of pole positions to put his Ferrari at the front of grid for Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.

Formula One’s man of the moment continued his dazzling form under the thousands of bulbs that light up the Marina Bay Street Circuit to see off Hamilton’s late salvo by just 0.191 seconds.

Leclerc took his fifth pole position of the season and Hamilton said: “Well at the moment, particularly as we’ve not necessarily really had the pace for pole and going above and beyond really, in trying to get the car, to get it on that front row.

“To split the Ferraris is not easy, they are just so quick at the moment, they’re kind of in a class of their own, these last three races. I was not expecting that here but it is the case.

“So I’m really, really happy with the job that I did, it was super ragged but like Charles says, we were both nearly in the wall trying to get the lap out.”
