Borussia Dortmund made the most of arch-rivals Bayern Munich’s surprise home draw against Hertha Berlin on Friday by thrashing Augsburg the following day.
Yet Lucien Favre’s men were behind after just 29 seconds – Florian Niederlecher taking full advantage of a torpid defence.
That lead was gone just over two minutes later though, thanks to Paco Alcacer. It was 1-1 at the break, but the hosts overwhelmed the Bavarians in the second half.
Jadon Sancho in the 51st, Marco Reus in the 57th , Alcacer two minutes later and Julian Brandt, eight minutes from time, completed the rout.
