Jordan Spieth 'excited' for Ryder Cup

  • Jordan Spieth is keen to capitalise on the great start from USA golfers this year.

    As the dust settles on the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship the world’s best players from America and Europe are already looking forward to the most prestigious team event in golf in the Ryder Cup.

    Ryder Cup facts

    • trophy is 17 inches tall, nine inches wide and weighs four pounds.
    • Between the years of 1935 and 1985, Europe only won the Ryder Cup once.

    The biannual event this year takes place at Hazeltine in Minnesota, USA and reigning Masters champion Jordan Spieth believes that this could be Team USA’s year to win back the trophy, which has been in the possession of the Europeans since 2010.

    “I’m excited because I feel that (American golf) is off to a good start this year alreay,” Spieth said. “Rickie (Fowler) winning last week, Jason Dufner is doing well and has been on these teams before and we have a nice mix of young guys and veterans.”
