The CrossFit Yas team represented the Middle East, Europe and Africa region and competed against other regional teams in this final round of the annual event, which is world-renowned as a gruelling test for the globe’s toughest athletes and a thrilling experience for spectators.

Following the CrossFit Yas team’s success at the initial stage of the competition, the CrossFit Open, and the Regional CrossFit Games where they achieved second place, the team were put through five difficult days of intense fitness challenges at this season’s finals, the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games.

At this point in the season, the participants had been narrowed down from hundreds of thousands of athletes in the Open to the world’s fittest 40 men, 40 women, 40 teams, 40 teenagers and 200 masters. The team was comprised of Jamie Greene, Antony Monks, Elliot Simmonds, Natan Geva, Sabine Whitfield, and Tammi Robinson.

“We are proud of our team’s remarkable achievement at this year’s CrossFit Games, with CrossFit Yas becoming the first team from outside the U.S. to podium at the CrossFit Games, placing Abu Dhabi and the UAE on the global fitness map,” said co-founder of Vogue Fitness & CrossFit Yas, Patrick Hegarty.

“CrossFit is a fast-growing workout programme that has an increasing following in Abu Dhabi, but it is much more than that – it is a community where friendships are formed, and where team members support each other.

“In August we are opening a ladies-only gym at Yas Marina to cater for the growing demand for CrossFit, and we are looking forward to watching our community grow, and to celebrating many more successes together.”

A central element of the CrossFit Games workouts is the unknown – athletes engage in a series of challenges that are not shared until just before the competitions begin.
