Sport360's fitness session at Four Seasons Resort

  • The top-class facility, which has recently been launched and offers a new private membership programme, is tailor-made for a fitness fanatic and equally, couples and families in Dubai.

    The Fitness Club includes a first-class gym, indoor pool, tennis courts and spa facility – providing everything you need for all types of sporting activity.

    After being welcomed by friendly hotel staff and given a tour of the facilities, the excellent personal trainer Dalibor Vidojevic spoke to me about tailoring the session to my requirements and getting the most out of the experience.

    And this personal, one-on-one approach immediately set out the objectives of the 90-minute activity – which was to strengthen core movements used for running, given I recently had a long-term injury.

    I started off with a solid 15 minute workout on the cross-trainer to warm up key lower-body muscle groups and to work up a bit of a sweat.

    We then moved to the mat area – working key core movements and vital muscle groups for athletes, such as the glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings and calves.

    As you will see by watching the video, there was a combination of press-up planks, step-up crunches and core ab workouts.

    For a sport like running, the need to work these areas is huge because without doing so, the body can break down and injury can occur when you’re not getting the support you need.

    Again, Dalibor was great – focusing on getting the most out of each element of the session.

    We then completed a gruelling circuit – which included five repetitions of the rowing machine, dead lifts and weight-walking – all of which were extremely tough.

    A rigorous stretching routine followed, testing key flexibility.

    I finished off the experience with muscle recovery using the excellent pool and spa facilities.

    Overall, I’d highly recommend the fitness club and the world-class facilities it has on offer, which are comfortably one of the best in Dubai.
