  • While the media spotlight continues to wage on, England manager Gareth Southgate feels that Raheem Sterling’s tweet has brought a closure to his recent altercation with Joe Gomez.

Gomez was booed by certain sections of England supporters at Wembley as Southgate’s men handed a 7-0 thrashing to Montenegro. Sterling, who sat out the game after being handed an internal one-match suspension by Southgate, later took to Twitter to express his support for the young Liverpool defender.

The Manchester City man stated in his tweet that it was wrong for England supporters to boo Gomez and urged them to show their support to the defender.

Sterling, meanwhile, had been suspended for his confrontation with Gomez in training after a heated altercation between the two in the preceding Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester City.

On Saturday, Gomez pulled out of the England squad for their final Euro 2020 qualifier against Kosovo after picking up a knee injury in training.

See what Southgate had to say about the boos directed at Gomez in the video posted above.
