  • American golfer Phil Mickelson has pulled no punches in his criticism of Team USA captain Tom Watson following their heavy Ryder Cup defeat at the hands of Europe at Gleneagles.

Mickelson – the most experienced American Ryder Cup player having played his 10th tournament – made his feelings known during the final day press conference.

The five-time Major winner expressed his disappointment at what he felt was Watson's decision to ignore certain aspects from previous Ryder Cups that helped America be successful.

However, Watson believes the USA's defeat was down to the fact Europe played better golf over the htree days.
