  • Who do you think will win IPL 2017? Which batsman will win the Orange Cap and which bowler will take home the Purple Cap?

    WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR?

After a few disappointing seasons, the Delhi Daredevils roped in Rahul Dravid and Paddy Upton as part of their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2016 and their performances did see some improvement.

The Daredevils, though, still failed to qualify for the playoffs after losing what was a virtual quarter-final against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their final league match.

At the end of the league stage, they finished sixth with 14 points [seven wins and seven losses].

Wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock, with 445 runs from 13 matches – including one century, was Delhi’s best batsman in the season.

When it came to the bowling, Chris Morris and Amit Mishra were the joint highest wicket-takers for the team with both bowlers accounting for 13 scalps each.

    WHAT IS NEW THIS YEAR?

The Daredevils have added some real firepower to their pace department with the acquisitions of South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Pat Cummins.

They also bought international all-rounders in Corey Anderson and Angelo Mathews in the auction, two players who will no doubt add balance to the team.

Aditya Tare, Ankit Bawne, and Navdeep Saini could prove to be smart signings as all three of them are consistent performers in India’s domestic circuit.

Murugan Ashwin, the mystery spinner who was with the Pune Supergiant last season and batsman Shashank Singh have also been added to the squad.

    HOW WILL THEY DO?

Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy will miss this edition of the IPL and that will come as a huge blow to the Daredevils as both the players have been a key part of their team recently.

The Delhi-based franchise are yet to announce replacements for the two and their season could hinge on that.
