It didn’t take too long for the Indian Premier League to dish up some drama as a thrilling contest of nerves ensued on Day Two of the 2020 edition. In the end, it was the Delhi Capitals who held their nerves to clinch victory over Kings XI Punjab via a Super Over.

Delhi recovered from a early batting collapse through some sensational batting by Marcus Stoinis to ultimately post a total of 157-8. The Australian all-rounder was in belligerent mood as he smashed a crucial 53 off just 21 deliveries.

In reply, Kings XI looked down and out after a poor start with the bat before Mayank Agarwal played the best T20 innings of his career. The right-handed opener’s super 89 took KXIP to the cusp of victory, only for him to throw it away in the last over. With only one run needed off three deliveries, Stoinis turned protagonist once again by dismissing Agarwal.

A stunning reflex catch by Kagiso Rabada off the last delivery of the over meant that the clash was forced into a Super Over. The South Africa pace ace then finished things off himself with the ball in hand by dismissing KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran off consecutive deliveries. With just three runs to win in the Super Over, Delhi romped to victory comfortably as Punjab were made to rue a devastating finale.

Stoinis, Agarwal and Rabada feature in our picks from the clash which has set the tone for the rest of the IPL 2020 campaign.
