The wheels seem to be coming off Chennai Super Kings already as MS Dhoni’s men fell to a second successive defeat in the Indian Premier League’s 2020 edition.

An enterprising half-century from Prithvi Shaw saw Delhi Capitals wrap up a comprehensive 44-run win in Dubai on Friday. With the victory, Shreyas Iyer’s men have moved to the top of the table with two wins in as many matches.

Chasing a target of 176 for victory, Chennai never got into the game and were ultimately restricted to just 131-7 in their 20 overs. South African pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje impressed with their discipline, with the latter snaring two wickets in his debut for the franchise.

Despite getting off to a slow start in the powerplay, Delhi’s batsmen were able to up the ante in the latter overs to post a daunting target for CSK. Ravindra Jadeja had another off night for Chennai, with the left-arm spinner leaking 44 runs in his four overs.

The defeat for Chennai means six of the seven clashes in IPL 2020 so far have been won by the team batting first. All this and more in our star picks for Friday’s clash.
