A second Super Over in just 10 matches was witnessed in the 2020 Indian Premier League on Monday as Royal Challengers Bangalore prevailed in a thriller.

Mumbai Indians came back from the brink in a run chase of 202 in Abu Dhabi, with a sensational 99-run innings from young Ishan Kishan helping them mount an outrageous comeback. Kishan’s stellar knock along with a brisk 60-run innings from Kieron Pollard saw the defending champions tie the score with the last delivery of the innings.

Ultimately, Navdeep Saini held his nerve in the Super Over with an excellent effort that saw him concede just seven runs. Jasprit Bumrah tried his best to pull things back for Mumbai, but AB de Villiers and skipper Virat Kohli were on hand to steer RCB to the second win of their campaign.

Earlier, half-centuries from Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal and de Villiers had helped Bangalore post a daunting total of 201-3 from their 20 overs. The South African ace was the pick of the lot with a rapid innings that included four sixes and as many boundaries.

The total of 201 is now the highest ever tied score in the IPL. It comes just a day after Rajasthan Royals scripted the highest successful run chase in the competition’s history.
