Sunrisers Hyderabad were finally off the mark in the 2020 Indian Premier League, all thanks to Kane Williamson’s instant impact in the middle-order.

The Blackcaps skipper provided a much needed boost to Hyderabad who prevailed by 15 runs over Delhi Capitals in Abu Dhabi. Williamson’s brisk 41 helped SRH post a competitive 162 after Jonny Bairstow had struck a half-century in the opener’s role.

In reply, Delhi’s batsmen struggled on a slow pitch before crumbling to the first defeat of their IPL 2020 campaign. Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan was at the forefront of Hyderabad’s bowling dominance, with three crucial wickets in his quota of four overs.

It was a game to forget for Delhi’s South African pacer Anrich Nortje, who conceded 40 runs from his four wicketless overs. In contrast, his compatriot Kagiso Rabada continued his excellent tournament with two wickets.

Tuesday’s victory lifted Surisers from the bottom of the table, with David Warner’s men moving ahead of KKR and CSK in sixth place.
