Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti impressed as Kolkata Knight Riders put a halt to Rajasthan Royals’ winning run in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League.

The two young Indian pacers snared a couple of wickets apiece in Dubai to hand the Knight Riders a convincing 37-run win on the night. The Royals never got going with the bat in their attempt to chase 175 and were saved some blushes by a fighting half-century from England pacer Tom Curran.

Having opted to field first in the clash, Rajasthan had their moments with the ball bur were still unable to prevent KKR from putting up 174-6 on the board. Opener Shubman Gill top-scored for the side with a fluent 47, while Eoin Morgan chipped in with a handy 34 to finish things off.

In response, Rajasthan were put on the back-foot early with Pat Cummins dismissing compatriot Steve Smith in his very first over. Mavi then dealt two big blows in the form of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson’s wickets, before Nagarkoti added two more for the side with his pace.

The win helped KKR leapfrog Rajasthan in the standings, with Dinesh Karthik’s men now sitting in second spot after three matches.
