Brazil head coach Tite revealed on Thursday his concerns over the situation surrounding Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain.
The forward has not played since suffering an ankle injury in a friendly against Qatar in June which ruled him out of the Copa America.
On Thursday Tite said the striker is ‘ready’ to play against Colombia in a friendly in Miami on Friday, although he is worried about his star player’s situation at PSG after the Brazilian’s transfer back to Barcelona fell through this summer.
Brazil are unbeaten in 18 matches since being knocked out of the 2018 World Cup by Belgium in the quarter-finals and beat Peru 3-1 in the Copa America final in July, while Colombia reached the last eight.
Ederson has revealed that Neymar’s failed move to Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer has not affected his mood in the Brazil camp.
The Manchester City goalkeeper spoke at a news conference at the national squad’s hotel in Miami on Wednesday, ahead of the friendly international against Colombia on Friday.
He described superstar striker Neymar’s mood as ‘happy’, despite speculation suggesting he might leave club side Paris Saint-Germain in the European transfer window and expressed his own happiness at being nominated by FIFA as one of the goalkeepers of the year, alongside national teammate Alisson.
“I see him happy. Any player who wears Brazil’s national jersey feels happy. I can’t talk about this summer market because I don’t know what happened,” he said.
Former Juventus and Manchester United defender Patrice Evra defended Neymar in light of his rumoured move to Barcelona.
The Frenchman spoke after the UEFA Champions League group stage draw that took place in Monaco on Thursday.
“I think a lot of people do not like Neymar. The problem is when you really be yourself in this world, people hate you, and when you are pretending, people love you,” Evra explained.
“When you arrive, you are the king of the world, but when you leave it is like Neymar killed somebody,” he added.
