The 28-year-old has signed a five year contract at the Spanish club after his €150 million move from Chelsea.
Hazard believes that he’s at his peak and the Bernabeu will witness his best years.
“No, I don’t think it’s too late. I am 28 years old. I think I am at the best moment in my career,” the Belgian said at his first press conference as a Madrid player.
“Between 27-33 is the best moment for a footballer. My dream to play for Real Madrid has been there for a long time but I had several stages in my career.
“First with Lille and then Chelsea and now I thought it was time to change in my career and to come to the best club in the world and that’s why I am here.”
Much is expected of the playmaker and he was even asked if he thinks he could become the best player in the world at the Spanish capital.
” I will try. I will try. But before that I will try to be (in) the best team in the world, not just the player.
“It is a different level. I had a lot of success with Chelsea and I want to win a lot as well with Madrid so just to be here is a new challenge but I’m ready for that.”
Eden Hazard arrived for his Real Madrid medical as he nears the completion of his club-record move from Chelsea.
The Spanish club agreed to smash their previous record that saw them pay €100 million for Gareth Bale in September 2013.
Real will pay Chelsea an initial fee of €100m which could rise to €146.3m with bonuses.
Hazard joins Madrid on a five-year contract and is expected to form a new front line for the club alongside another new signing Luka Jovic and Brazilian youngster Vinicius Junior.
Since joining Chelsea from French club Lille in 2012, Hazard has won both the Premier League and Europa League twice, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
“I’m the happiest footballer in the world” said Luka Jovic after he was officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
According to Spanish media, Real paid €60 million to Eintracht Frankfurt to sign the 21-year-old Serbian forward, who last season scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga and 10 more in the Europa League.
“I do think the Spanish league, along with the Premier league, is the best league in Europe, and hopefully I’ll be doing well”, he said.
Jovic added that growing up his idol was Cristiano Ronaldo, and admitted of being really excited at the prospect of playing alongside Eden Hazard.
“Eden Hazard is a marvellous player, one of the best in the world. It’s going to be a pleasure to play alongside him.”
