  • Nick Kyrgios.

Australia’s Nick Kyrgios said that he was disappointed at himself for not coming forward earlier in trying to help the victims of the bushfires ravaging his country.

The world number 30 said he would donate 250 Australian dollars ($140) for each ace he hits during the ATP Cup and at the Australian Open later this month.

He hit 20 aces, raising 4,000 Australian dollars in the process.

Kyrgios said he thought “all athletes in Australia should be helping” – team-mates Alex de Minaur and John Millman also said they would contribute and the ATP Cup itself will also donate $100 per ace.

The Canberra-born star said he was thinking about his pledge every time he served an ace against Struff.
