  • Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keeping a bold face despite his side’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash.

Saul Niguez’s fourth minute goal at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium proved to be decisive as the hosts held out for a narrow win over the English side.

Liverpool dominated proceedings in Madrid after falling behind with the visitors hogging as much as 73 per cent of the ball possession.

However, Diego Simeone’s men were extremely organised in defence and were successful in keeping Liverpool’s attackers at bay. Despite their dominance over the ball, the Reds were not able to generate a single shot on target in the encounter against the La Liga outfit.

It leaves defending champions Liverpool with plenty to do in the second leg, which takes place on March 12 at Anfield.

See what Klopp had to say about his team’s performance in Madrid in the video posted above.
