Competitiors can hit the open water at the picturesque shores of Saadiyat Island for the second 2XU 5 Star Aquathlon.
Organised by Gulf Multi Sport and presented by Daman’s ActiveLife, the event will take place in the capital off the shores of St. Regis Saadiyat on December 11.
Participants will swim through clear waters before running through the hotel and island footpaths. Open to all ages, the 2XU 5 Star Aquathlon promises fun for the whole family.
Daniel Hughes, the events director of Gulf Multi Sport, said: “The 5 Star Aquathlon is an exciting series and we are pleased to hold the second race at the beautiful St Regis Saadiyat Hotel. This community focused event is open to all ages event and we can’t wait to see the first timers take to this wonderful course.”
Four race categories are available, starting with the Tiny Tri for ages two to 10. Kids will make their way though 50m in the water and then run to the finish line 100m away.
Those aged 10 to 16 can be a part of the junior race, consisting of a 200m swim and 1.5km run. Competitors aged 16 and over can either swim 375m and run a 2.5km Super Sprint, or do a 750m swim and 5km run.

Registration can be done online at www.premieronline.com, with the entry fee Dh60 for Tiny Tri, Dh120 for juniors and Dh180 for adults. The final day to sign up is tomorrow by midnight, with last minute registration available after that depending on availability.
The season-opening event drew more than 400 participants, so make sure you save your spot. The races will start at 07:00 on the day, with body marking and swim cap collection beginning at 05:30.
