Their Ultimate Pairs Championship returns for its sixth edition on January 29 and 30 and has already attracted over 30 entries.
And if you’re interested in joining the field, you do not want to wait long with just 20 places remaining. Played under full championship conditions, golfers will battle in a Texas Scramble and Greensomes on Friday, before competing in the Betterball and Foursomes on Saturday.
It’s one of SGSC’s prestigious events that stands out from the rest.
“What makes the Ultimate Pairs Championship different from the others, is that it’s the only tournament where players can play four different formats,” said Mark Ruddy, golf events manager at Sharjah
Golf and Shooting Club.
“That in itself makes it unique. Since it began it’s been a huge success with people coming from around the UAE not just in Sharjah or Dubai. We’ve had people travel from Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi so this year’s field will be strong with very good golfers set to sign up.”
Entry fees varies between Dh250and Dh675 with the competition open to visitors, EGF members, juniors and professionals. Additionally, for Dh875 – the Preparation Pass, players can get unlimited golf course and academy access until Thursday.
Besides the winning trophy, there’s plenty to play for with prizes for the top three, while accolades will be awarded to the first-placed golfers in each format.
“The biggest plus of this competition is there’s plenty of opportunities to go home with a prize,” said Ruddy.
“Even if you’re not in contention for the main trophy over the two days, you can still win a prize in one of the four formats. That in itself makes the competition interesting and appealing to the golfers.
“The greens will be immaculate. We hosted the Men’s Open last month and that was perfect and our groundsmen have been working really hard to ensure this tournament will be the same and golfers will not be disappointed with the greens when they see it.
“All our tournaments are well organised and has earned positive reviews from many people. I’m sure the Ultimate Pairs Championship will be another success.”
