India captain Virat Kohli is likely to return to bat in the third Test against Australia at Ranchi after suffering a shoulder injury on Thursday.
The injury occurred during the 40th over of Australia’s innings as Kohli attempted to stop a four by diving near the boundary line. In the process, he hurt his right shoulder and looked to be in some discomfort.
The 28-year-old left the field and hasn’t returned since.
Early on day two, the commentators did confirm – just like the BCCI had on Thursday – that Kohli is undergoing treatment for a strain in his right shoulder and “there are no serious concerns”.
In Kohli’s absence, Ajinkya Rahane has taken over captaincy duties.
