Electric Saudi Arabia and Al Hilal winger Salem Al Dawsari could be set for a second European experience after he claimed an offer had come in from an unnamed Premier League outfit.

Al Dawsari, 28, has emerged as one of Asia’s finest footballers in recent years. His searing talents were displayed on a global stage in 2018 with a loan spell at Villarreal that contained a La Liga run-out versus Real Madrid and memorable late winner for the Green Falcons against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt at the World Cup.

This ascendancy continued in 2019 with strikes in victory during the AFC Champions League final – versus Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds – and in defeat to Brazil’s Flamengo in the Club World Cup semi-finals. Al Dawsari declined to reveal the identity of his English suitor, yet this revelation comes amid advanced talks between Newcastle United about a majority financed takeover by the Kingdom’s Public Investment Fund.

“I received an offer from one of the English clubs in the top flight,” he told the ‘Open Heart’ programme on MBC Radio. “There are offers from other clubs and I hope for external professionalism.”

Al Dawsari inked last summer a contract extension at Hilal until June 2022. He has notched 11 times in 51 international caps.

Iconic compatriot Sami Al Jaber made five appearances during a ground-breaking loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers – then outside the Premier League – in 2000.
