  • The seventh edition of the competition returns to Abu Dhabi this month.

Get into the swing of things by showcasing your golfing skills and you could be walking home with some fantastic prizes at Yas Links Men’s Open.

The tournament returns for its seventh edition on March 11 and 12 and while entry numbers have been encouraging, there’s still time to join them ahead of next Wednesday’s deadline.

The 36-hole stroke play event is open to all amateur golfers with a valid handicap certificate and played under full championship conditions.

With it being one of the main competitions in Yas Links’ calendar, it’s no surprise previous years have been a huge success. And next month’s looks set to be no different.

“The Yas Links Men’s Open has been held annually every year since the club opened in 2010,” said Carly Tjader, sales and marketing manager at Yas Links.

“Every year the popularity of the competition increases which results in a full draw sheet.

“The day is largely made up of Yas Links’ members, although we do get golfers travelling from abroad to attend.

“It’s a great opportunity for the golfing community to come together and compete as the Men’s Open
is a great way to see how they stand against each other in the UAE.”

Entry fees vary with junior members costing Dh250, while adults will pay Dh445. Emirates Golf Federation members will be charged Dh1,000, while junior and adult guests can enter for Dh600 and Dh1,100 respectively.

Besides playing on luxurious greens in the capital, the fee also includes unlimited practice ground access on both days and breakfast and lunch buffets.

While the top three will claim attractive prizes, there are also Best Gross and Best Nett accolades up for grabs on each day.

“Bragging rights is surely an accolade to strive for,” added Tjader. “Pirelli are sponsoring the tournament, so there are some great prizes to be won.

“Yas Links has been ranked the 46th best golf course in the world by Golf Digest in 2016. “With a lot of avid golfers in the UAE, they can get a chance to play at this top venue and claim the overall title at Yas Links.”

“With it being a two-day competition, the men can bring their families down and enjoy what Yas Island has to offer.

“Special Yas Island hotel rates have been put in place for the weekend as well, so it can make an ideal weekend away for competitors not living in Abu Dhabi.”
