  • After a winter hiatus, the popular Giant Duathlon Series returns for its first race of the new year and the fourth race the season.

Taking place on Friday, March 17 at Hamdan Sports Complex, the event, which was originally scheduled to be held on January 20 before being postponed, is another chance for competitors to run and cycle their way to fitness.

The series is perfect for athletes of all ages and abilities, with several categories and distances on offer to take advantage of.

In the individual categories, kids aged up to 12 can take part in the Quarter Distance Duathlon, which features a cycle of 6km, bookended by 750m runs. Kids aged 10 to 16, meanwhile, can do the Tweens and Teens Half Distance Duathlon, comprising of a 1.5km run, a 12km cycle and a 1.5km run to the finish line.

Finally, the longest race available is the Full Distance Duathlon, which expands to a 3km run, 24km cycle and 3km run for ages 14 and above.

Participants can also form all-male, all-female or mixed teams to take part in the longest distance.

The courses are designed to be as safe as possible, held on private roads so competitors won’t have to deal with vehicular traffic.
