  • More than 500 people will take to the track for the 2XU Compression Run this Friday and you can still join them ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

The Track Golf Club in Meydan is the venue for the fourth race of the season and whether you’re a beginner or an experienced athlete, there’s something for everyone.

Previous editions have been a massive hit and you can see for yourself why it’s so highly regarded with 3km, 5km and 15km races on offer.

While individuals will claim a medal and certificate for their efforts, there’s also a bonus with an attractive prize up for grabs at the end of the series.

“The 2XU Compression Run forms part of the GO Sport Super Series where all athletes finishing the race will stand a chance of winning an all expenses paid trip to Thanyapura – a sports training resort – based in Phuket, Thailand at the end-of-season lucky draw,” said Warren van der Merwe, race director of organisers, Super Sports Events.

“This race will also feature the Heartbeat Sports Tigers Under-10 rugby team, who are competing along with their family and friends as a way of raising funds for their Tour to Sri Lanka, so it will have a real community feel to the race day and hopefully they will be well supported by all.”

As part of the organiser’s vision in promoting a healthy lifestyle, there will also be entry discounts for families of three or more.

The event, which is sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council and UAE Athletics Federation, has already attracted interest from corporate and community groups.

Samantha Cadwallader, brand manager of 2XU, insists it will be a memorable day. “We are delighted to see the community getting involved – especially the Tigers junior rugby team – and using the race series as a mechanism for building spirit amongst themselves and bringing family and friends down to share in their experience,” she said.

“We will once again offer discounted pricing on a range of products to all runners who collect their race packs before race day from Beyond Fitness which is located inside City Centre Me’aisem near Sports City.”

Rahul Singh, Qube Sports Bar & Restaurant manager, added: “As the hosting venue here at Meydan we are very proud to be able to offer all runners our facilities. Registration will once again happen in Qube and we are also offering all runners complementary hot and cold beverages with a muffin which they can either enjoy before or after the race.”
