  • Above and beyond: Lower the heat but lift the boredom this summer at Ski Dubai.

With the scorching summer now upon us, you can beat the UAE heat and enjoy fun activities in real snow at the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort – Ski Dubai.

Since opening in 2005, the venue has become one of the most prominent attractions for residents and visitors thanks to its amazing mountain-wintery setting with temperatures ranging from -1 to -4 degrees.

Snowboarding and skiing, as well as enjoying a perfect view of the breathtaking 3,000 square metre location in the chairlift, are just some of the activities you can look forward to that will guarantee fun for all ages.

“Ski Dubai is and will remain a staple attraction on Dubai’s ever changing leisure and entertainment scene, and since we opened our doors over a decade ago we have been committed to providing all our guests with great moments every day,” said Sherif Hashem, senior marketing manager at Ski Dubai.

“During these summer months, we have all of our usual offerings running which includes our Ski School, Snow Park, Mountain Thriller Slide, Snow Bullet zip line experience and of course our much loved Penguin Encounters.

“We recently launched our Ice Bumper Cars which is a new attraction for our younger guests, and it’s proving very popular. It is an old classic ride, with a cool Ski Dubai twist.”

Snow Park tickets are available at Dh200 (unlimited access to the park) while prices vary for the Polar, Polar Express, Ski Dubai Experience and Ski Slope attractions.

You can also take advantage of different promotions including the 20 per cent discount for UAE residents.

“We know that for many residents staying in Dubai over the summer months they are desperate for things to do out of the desert heat,” said Hashem.

“This is why we have introduced resident rates which offers a 20 per cent discount on our Polar, Polar Express and Ski Dubai Experience Passes. You just need to present your Emirates ID, driving license or labour card to enjoy the discount.”

He added: “This year, for the first time we are running a promotion with Emirates Skywards where Ski Dubai guests can be in with the chance to win 250,000 air miles with every Dh350 spent.

“And for all of our visitors that are movie buffs we have partnered with VOX Cinemas to launch our IMAX SNOW offer, which gives access to Ski Dubai and an IMAX ticket all for only Dh199.”

Although many people will go abroad for their vacations, for those who are staying in the country, Hashem believes a visit to Ski Dubai will definitely be worthwhile and memorable.

“Honestly, it is truly unique to experience -4 degrees in Dubai but Ski Dubai is so much more than that. We believe that we offer something for everyone whether it’s catching up with friends over a hot chocolate, keeping fit or entertaining the kids, you’re guaranteed to have a great day out.”
