  • Almond Snickers Slice.

Snickers bars are definitely up there with my favourite chocolate bars. But to be honest I can’t remember the last time I had one! This is why….

Ingredients Declaration: MILK CHOCOLATE (, COCOA BUTTER, CHOCOLATE, SKIM MILK, LACTOSE, MILKFAT, SOY LECITHIN, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR), PEANUTS, CORN SYRUP,SUGAR, PALM OIL, SKIM MILK, LACTOSE, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL, SALT, EGG WHITES, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR.

With ingredients like soy lecithin, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils and artificial flavours they hardly seem so appealing anymore.

Lucky for us though, it is super easy to make something that tastes very similar at home with wholesome, real ingredients.

    WHAT YOU NEED

    Almond Caramel

    cup of softened dates
½ a teaspoon of vanilla powder
½ a cup of coconut milk or cream
3 tablespoons of almond butter (or any nut butter)
    3 tablespoons of coconut oil
    Pinch of salt
    1½ cup of almonds
    Chocolate Topping

    3 tablespoons of coconut oil
    2 tablespoons of cacao powder
    ½ a teaspoon of honey

    WHAT TO DO

    1. If your almonds are raw then you first need to roast them in the oven. Bake them at 160 degrees, for 5-10 minutes. Watch them closely and don’t let them burn! Cool, and chop roughly.

    2. In a blender or food processor, blend the dates, vanilla, coconut cream, almond butter, coconut oil and salt.

    3. Stir the roasted almonds into your caramel mixture until well combined.

    4. Pour the almond caramel into a tray lined with baking paper, flatten with a spoon and set aside while you make the chocolate.

    5. Melt the coconut oil, add the cacao powder and honey. Mix well to combine and pour over the caramel base.
