  • Raking them up: Cristofer Rahm.

Christofer Rahm produced the round of the day to finish four clear and be crowned the 10th RAK Men’s Amateur champion.

In the two-day, 36-hole event counting towards the Emirates Golf Federation Order of Merit, Rahm found himself two shots behind first-round leader Ryan Hunter (71) after carding 73.

Rahm then improved on his first round by two, hugely aided by three straight birdies on the back nine.

A further one shot behind was Tiago Lobo, who produced rounds of 74 and 75 for a 149 total.

The net division saw an extremely close battle with five players sharing top spot on a score of 148. After several card play-offs, Dhruv Nair, who had the best day two score, walked away with the top honours.

A truly great prize: Kamyar (r).

The first Orient Travel-Malaysia Truly Asia Monthly Medal of the season kicked off in Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club, with a fantastic trip for the top three net winners and top gross winner at the end of the Order of Merit season.

Kamyar Tajfar, a junior member of SGSC, shot 65 net in his first medal appearance and took home the first prize.

The pressure of senior golf at the club didn’t affect Kamyar as he strolled through the first nine holes in six-under nett, carding 30.

The back nine was a little more challenging but he still managed 35 nett to card the round of the day.

Closest to come to Kamyar’s score was the afternoon session winner No Ma Yeou with a score of 68.
